Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck, former Espada now a member of Organization Keyblade, was training.

Ever since Revan Shadow helped her regain her power and true form she trained when not on missions hoping to become stronger.

When she fought at Ichigo Kurosaki's side to protect him from Nnoitra Gilga she lost her power after going to Resurrección form, because she transformed too soon and her body wasn't ready for it yet.

The battle made her also realize she's outdated in strength compared to the Espada who came after her.

Now that the Espada are gone and she regained her strength and in a new team she trained to became stronger.

She got along with most of her new teammates, except Vanitas, how had a similar relationship with her like she used to have with Nnoitra, who used to challenge her regularly in her Espada days hating her for being a woman who's stronger then him.

Vanitas wasn't chauvinistic like Nnoitra, however Nel reminded him of Aqua, despite no longer being evil, Vanitas did see Aqua as his rival. And he thought beating Nel would prove to himself he could beat Aqua.

As a result he fought her often in sparring fights.

Today though he decided to get serious.

They were fighting in the base's training room with Nel clad in a Black Coat which became her formal attire after joining, clashing blades while in midair. After a few clashes they separated.

As he dashed away from Nel, he fired a barrage of fireballs at her from his Keyblade. Nel swung her blade rapidly and summoned a barrage of Balas, Arrancar high-speed projectiles, to deflect the fireballs. Some Bala flew past the fireballs and head toward Vanitas.

They went through him. For this Vanitas was an afterimage of the real Vanitas who teleported at last moment and made an afterimage to take the blow, as a diversion to fool and distract Nel, as he warps behind her and slash her back. At least it was the plan.

Nel's Arrancar sensory ability Pesquisa, allowed her to sense Vanita's spirit energy and she can tell when he switched places wrt the afterimage because the afterimage had no spirit energy. Also with her ability she can sense him when he reappeared behind her and reacted accordingly by swinging her blade behind her and countered Vanitas' slash.

He jumped away and slashed at the air, creating a X-shaped Energy Slash and released it.

Nel channeled spiritual energy into her blade, enhancing it as she slashed into Vanitas' Attack. She slid across the ground a little as the X-shaped energy slash pushed against her blade. After a while though, Nel sliced through the Energy Slash, two halves of the X crashed into the wall behind her.

Nel dashed forward to intercept Vanitas. She pointed her blade forward to stab at him. He's backed against the wall of the training room.

Nel collided into the wall like a speeding car. When the dust cleared, she saw her blade only impaled at the wall, and Vanitas himself was gone.

At last moment he escaped Nel's Attack by shifting into the ground. When he resurfaced he was behind Nel, rising into the air spinning rapidly releasing a spray of fire balls to fall and hit the ground like fire bombs.

Nel was forced to raise her arms and utilize her skin hardening technique Hierro to the fullest for protection against the onslaught of the firebombs which exploded all around her.

It was really a diversion for Vanitas to appear behind her and stab at her from behind.

She was able to dodge it but Vanitas attempted again and again as he stabbed multiple times in super speed. Nel was able to gracefully dodge them all though some got close in piercing her.

After a while Nel suddenly grabbed the shaft of Vanitas's Keybalde with her bare hand. Then she moved the brunt side of her hilt and smashed it into Vanitas' side. The blow was enhanced with Spirit Energy, sending Vanitas flying into the air and into the ground.

A lesser opponent would have his ribs broken from that Attack, but Vanitas' body is very strong and resilient, partly due to the fact he's constantly using Dark Mode, and the fact that before Nel's brunt Attack hit him, he cushioned the blow with energy he gathered at the inside of his flesh.

He quickly recovered from the attack and jumped back up from his feet. He was still partially hurt but not as severe as it would have been.

Vanitas pointed his blade forward and fired his strongest move Dark Cannon, three crystals of energy rotates around him vertically. Each crystal discharged energy into the tip of his Keyblade, it acted as a focusing point which gathered all three of the crystals energy and combined it into a focused beam of energy fired from Vanitas' Keyblade.

Nel countered Dark Cannon's Attack with a Cero, an Arrancar/Hollow's strongest Attack, a powerful concentrated blast of spirit energy. It is the opposite to a Bala which while it is low in power but fast, a Cero is slower but much more powerful then a Bala.

Nel's Cero was light Violet and fired from her mouth. Her Cero and Vanitas' Dark Cannon blasts collided and cancelled eachother out, exploding.

As the explosion started to settle Vanitas teleported behind Nel to strike her. Without turning around she ducked the strike and elbowed Vanitas at the stomach. As she turned around she delivered a strong sweeping kick which sent him flying away from Nel.

He performed an areial recovery and landed at the ground.

He then teleported above Nel, releasing bolts of dark Lighnting to strike at her.

The Attack stunned her and Vanitas reappeared a few feet away from her in front of her pointing his blade forward and charged Dark Zero at its tip.

Dark Zero was Revan's signature move he developed after unlocking Dark Mode, in those days before forming the Organization he traveled to random worlds, Hueco Mundo the world where Nel came from amomgst them.

He based Dark Zero on a Hollow/Arrencar's Cero which delivered similar results. The user can fire it as a powerful energy blast of black dark energy or unleash it as a strong dark energy slash.

When Revan formed Organization Kkeyblade he taught it to his Keyblade members and disciples.

Vanitas being one of Revan's apprentices learned Dark Zero from him and is now using it against Nel, now that she's stunned from the Lightning strike and can't move out of the way.

Black Energy gathered as a sphere at Vanitas' Keyblade and was discharged as an energy wave like a Hollow's Cero.

When the blast reach Nel, she to Vanitas' surprise caught it with her bare hand, and sucked the energy into her mouth.

One of Nel's specialty is Cero Doble, an ability she developed which allowed her to absorb another Hollow/Arrancar's Cero, combine it with her own Cero then discharge it right back at them, firing a blast with the power of two Ceros combined as one.

Nel was given dark powers by Revan so she can use Corridors of Darkness to travel to other worlds and was able to Learn Dark Zero herself.

Because Dark Zero was based on a Cero, Nel was able to absorb Vanitas Attack and combine it with her own energy and fire it as her Cero.

It moved so strong and fast Vanitas couldn't evade in time and the Attack exploded when it struck him.

But then the dust lifted Nel was surprised to see Vanitas unharmed and was surging in black energy.

Vanitas has the ability to channel the negativity within himself and the environment to create a race of monsters called Unversed. But under Revan's suggestion Vanitas learned to use his ability in a different way, instead of channeling negative energy to create Unversed; he channeled it into his own body augmenting his power.

He called this state Negative Mode. The stronger the source of negative energy, the stronger he becomes.

Arrancars and Hollows have a negative existence, and thus are great sources of negativity.

Ironically Nel is now Vanitas' power source, and he's growing stronger by the minute.

"Surprised?" Vanitas smirked under his mask. "You are a reserve of power to me now. In moments I'll overwhelm you with power."

He disappeared in a blur of speed.

Nel for a moment didn't move, suddenly energy surged from her blade and she swung it and struck at the air.

Vanitas reappeared in the spot she slashed, sliced at his chest and thrown off his feet.

He fell on his back, reverted to normal from the pain s d loss of concentration and looked up at Nel in surprise that she was able to catch him at his enhanced speed.

"You aren't the only one who learned from Revan. He taught me how to use my released state without transforming. See when I first joined my body wasn't too used to handling my form, attempting would risk having me revert to my child form after a period of time.

"To an Arrancar, our Zanpakto is a seal that contains our true power and form within the blade, until it's called to unlock that power with Resurrección. When Resurrección is released the blade disappears as our body transforms into a form resembling our original Hollow Form, which then our abilities have increased.

"What Revan suggests is to access some of the Resurrección power within my Zanpakto and have it burst out from the blade, as I demonstrated.

"That way I can access my Resurrección power while remaining in my original form without the risk. Now..." Said Nel as she pointed her blade at Vanitas' chest.

"Do you concede?" She asked.

"Hmph, I hate Losing to a girl...you are quite annoying," he said as he withdrew, as a sign he gave the fight to her.

Nel gave a smirk as she went to pick up her sheath which she dropped after drawing her blade at the beginning of the battle.

"Well that's that then, and just in time for lunch. I'm so hungry..." She gave a childish squeal as she left the training room.

Vanitas sighed as he got up and healed his would with his healing spell. "She's so annoying like her...and yet she's different, less serious and more ferocity...like me." He gave a small smirk

At that remark then left the room.
